Job Description

1st, 2nd or 3rd year Landscape Gardening Apprentice Go to work in a beautiful heritage garden and develop your skills with a wide variety of gardens formal rose gardens to Japanese, exotic and native gardens. Duties As directed and as part of the Beleura Garden Team: - Be able to work outdoors across various garden landscapes at Beleura including the Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, native gardens and formal gardens - Undertake various garden duties including weeding, hedge trimming, mulching, pruning, composting, raking, planting and other activities. - Use under instruction and when suitably experienced some power tools including hedge trimmers and mulcher. - Assist in irrigation including managing timed watering systems and setting up sprinkler systems and manual hosing - Assist in clearing plant debris and creation of mulch and compost - Prepare garden beds, raise seeds and assist in potting and planting Requirements - Be successfully undertaking study in a Certificate of Horticulture at a local education provider - Prior professional work experience working as part of a team - Independent judgement and eye for detail - Ability to work independently at times - Be presentable and reliable with a positive attitude - Be fit and able to do manual work such as mulching, weeding etc. - Driver’s Licence Trial Period A trial period of three months from commencement of role About the workplace Our passion is creating a variety of interesting spaces for the general public to enjoy while maintaining a heritage garden. Be part of an experienced team learning under the direction of the Head Gardener who has over 30 years industry experience in heritage gardens. What You can Expect We are looking for the right person who is passionate about learning various horticulture disciplines such as native vegetation management, turf management, exotic species management and vegetable gardening. You will gain an ability to be able to read different styles of gardens such as Japanese, formal rose gardens, picking gardens and Mediterranean style gardens. About You We are looking for apprentices with the following skills and interests: - a 3rd or 4th year apprentice and be successfully undertaking study in a Certificate of Horticulture at a local education provider - prior professional work experience working as part of a team - independent judgement and eye for detail - Ability to work independently at times - be presentable and reliable with a positive attitude - be fit and able to do manual work such as mulching, weeding etc. - a Driver’s Licence
